What is the definition of a lump-sum investment?

A lump-sum investment is when you invest all of your money in a mutual fund at once. Lump-sum investments are usually rather large.

A lump sum investment, for example, is one in which an amount of Rs.1,20,000/- is invested in a mutual fund all at once.

A systematic investment, on the other hand, is when you choose to invest the same amount, i.e. Rs.1,20,000/- in a staggered way (for example, 10K every month for 12 months).
